On Fridays, the 6th and 7th graders got to participate in a very special Christmas activity – the White Elephant Gift Exchange.
There are many different twists on this game: some people bring joke gifts and wrap them up beautifully, some people bring gifts based on a theme, some people exchange the gifts based on a story, and some people exchange and then steal another person’s gift!

We decided to exchange gifts based on a special version of the Christmas poem, “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, which had the words “right” and “left” inserted in strategic places. Students brought in various wrapped gifts (toilet paper, soap, candy, pencil sharpeners, key chains, etc.), stood in a circle, and passed the gifts based on the directions they heard.
