A few weeks back we were invited to our friends (Thai and Neat) wedding. Normally we would just go to the
evening meal but as we know them I attended the morning services too.
A typical khmer weddding would have all sorts of religious ritual as part of the morning
but as the couple are christians they kept most of the rituals with a christian emphasis.
So we had the approach to the wedding tent, tieng of red strings,
cutting of hair, recieving monies, lighting of candles (modify slightly) and an extra one which was the washing of the
parents feet. To the casual observer it was a khmer wedding and by my observation the non christian parents
were both happy with how it all went.
It was a first for us, but in april there will be another wedding so this is a good model of how
