The Guardian has revealed what could be an explosive scandal in relation to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Qatar. The tournament is already in shambles after worries about the temperature meaning it may have to be the first World Cup ever held in the winter, a potential nightmare for clubs. Then there’s the well known scandal that Qatar bribed FIFA to “buy” the World Cup, something FIFA of course denies.
But now, there are report that Qatar is treating Nepalese workers like “modern-day slaves” in order to build their expensive stadium for 2022. There are even reports that some of the workers have died from their treatment, although this is unconfirmed. The Qatari government is looking into the scandal. FIFA should just take the World Cup away from Qatar. But of course they can’t do that. Qatar bought the World Cup.
